One-on-One Counseling Opportunities
Spending, Saving, and Debt Reduction Planning
One-on-one session to help individuals or families determine their financial status and make decisions to change their spending and savings habits. A summary of expenses, current debts, savings, and proposed changes is provided. For appointment call 723-3950.
Credit Report Assistance
Need help with your credit report? We can help you access and review your credit report for errors and assist with getting it corrected. We can also help you develop a plan to improve and/or maintain your credit score.
Thrift Savings Plan
Come into the Airman & Family Readiness Center for information about the Thrift Savings Plan (TSP). If you have questions about the types of investment options, rates of return, or limitations, call for a one-on-one appointment at 723-3950.
Career Status Bonus/REDUX Briefings
One-on-one session designed to explore options available to those military members who are at the 14 1/2 year point deciding between the High Three retirement plan or CSB/REDUX plan. Spouses may attend. To schedule an appointment call, 723-3950.
Off-base Move and Home Buying Assessments
A one-on-one session targeted at single first-term Airmen assessing their ability to afford to live off-base, and for others, their ability to purchase a home. Income, debt, and expenses are assessed, including projected housing, utility, insurance, and transportation costs. A copy is provided to member. Call 723-3950.
Car Buying
One-on-one session assessing what an individual can afford to pay for a car. Includes: projected loan, fuel, maintenance, and insurance costs. Financial situation assessment is provided to the client. Make an appointment by calling 723-3950.
Classes Offered
Home Buying Seminar
A 3-hr class designed to familiarize attendees with the home buying process. Offered in conjunction with the Housing Office and Veterans Administration, topics include: shopping for a real estate agent, shopping for a loan, real estate taxes, and understanding your mortgage and much more.
Professional Development
From First Term Airmen to Senior NCOs, classes are targeted to the unique needs of the enlisted force.
Wealth Building with TSP
A 1.5-hr class that explains the Thrift Savings Plan, including investment options, rates of return, withdrawal and loan options. Also addressed are the basic concepts behind developing an investment strategy and retirement planning.
Marriage & Money
This 3-hour, evening workshop provides couples tools to work through financial matters in a fun, fast-paced environment. Co-sponsored by NDSU Extension Service. Call 723-3950 for more information and to register.
It's Your Move Investment Training
A 6 hr course, offered in three, 2 hour installments, on developing a personal investment strategy. This training was developed for DOD by the Association of Financial Counselors, Planners and Educators. From preparing to invest to selecting investment opportunities, this course covers it all!
Education Financial Planning Workshop
Participants explore ways to pay for college/post secondary education. Topics include: scholarship search, tax credits, 529 plans, work study, Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) program. Call 723-3950 for more information.
